Date: Saturday March 2, 2013

Start: 8 a.m. at East Snow Gate.

Elevation Gain / (Loss): 1,220 (2,860)

Directions to Start: From Sisters, take Hwy 242 west to East Snow Gate (8 miles).
Sisters Carpool: Meet at Sisters Coffee Company at 7:30 a.m. If lots of people are coming from Bend, we’ll set up a Bend carpool that will leave at 7:00 a.m.

Outing Description: XC ski on the old McKenzie Highway up and over the pass to the west snow gate. Total distance is about 20 miles with more descending on the west side than climbing on the east side. Traveling in the forest until Windy Point, then through a large lava flow for several miles past the Dee Wright Observatory with great views of the Three Sisters and Mt. Washington. Down through more forest to the west snow gate. We’ll set up a car shuttle to pick us up on the west side and drive back to Sisters. It will be a long day.

Equipment & Clothing Needs: Normal winter day outing clothing, food and liquids, 10 essentials, cross country skis.

Skills, Experience & Fitness Level Needed: Skiing is pretty easy. Need to be fit, it’s a long way.

Maximum Number of Participants: Limit of 8 Participants.
