06.30 – Top Rope Sunday at Smith Rock

Date: June 30, 2013 (Sunday) 9:00am at the N. Point parking lot – Smith Rock State Park.

Outing Description: This will be the perfect opportunity for those who have always wanted to try rock climbing, but didn’t know where to start. Here is your chance to learn in a safe environment!! Top Roped climbs between 5.6 and 5.10c will be put up to offer a wide range of difficulty for beginning to intermediate climbers. If you can not make it at 9am, call Rod to find out where they are climbing and you can meet up with them later if needed.

Difficulty Rating: Single Pitches of climbing: 5.6 – 5.10c.

Directions to Start: Hwy 97 North to Terrebonne, East to Smith Rock from Redpoint. Meet in the N. Point parking lot ($5 fee to park if you don’t have a yearly pass). Carpool, if possible.

Equipment & Clothing Needs: Normal day outing clothing, food and liquids. Rock climbing shoes and a harness are the only required equipment. Shoes can be borrowed from Rod, or rented at Redpoint. Optional equipment includes: a locking carabiner, belay device & helmet.

Skills, Experience & Fitness Level Needed: General good health with the ability to listen, learn and retain instruction. Safety is paramount and all climbers must be prepared for the unexpected situation and weather so please come with the appropriate clothing, food and ample amount of water and electrolytes. The forecast is looking good with lots of sun and it can get hot. If you have any questions please contact the outing coordinator.
